	This year's report highlights the Foundation's commitment to a sustainable tomorrow and the innovative programs we are supporting to lead the way there. Global climate change is the environmental challenge of our time and The Sierra Club Foundation is rising to meet that challenge. As this report illustrates, we envision a thriving planet, in which carbon emissions are cut by 80% over the next forty years; and we believe that, in the process, America can build a strong clean energy economy and become a global leader in solving this epic challenge. 	The Sierra Club Foundation is a public charity whose mission is to provide financial support to the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations for tax deductible work. We fund a range of environmental projects which fall into the three general categories of public education, litigation, and training. The Sierra Club Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. Since 1960, The Sierra Club Foundation has funded tens of millions of dollars worth of important work, from small local projects costing a couple of hundred dollars, to large, multi-year campaigns which require millions of dollars to support. The financial support for The Sierra Club Foundation comes from individual donors and foundations who recognize that The Sierra Club Foundation is the most effective organization to sponsor important environmental work. Our work reflects the core values of people everywhere. That we all have a right to a safe and healthy environment, clean air, clean water, open space, wild lands and a healthy and diverse ecosystem.
